Building material is the module to let us know what are the materials that we need to use in the building construction. This module introduces various type of materials with salient properties. Their physical properties and suitability for certain constructions are important due to environment influences. Every different kinds of materials have their own benefit of usage but also they consist certain weaknesses which make the material not applicable for some environments.

In Building material, there are some projects allocated to us to improve our knowledge to the usage of material :

1.Project 1: Solid vs Void – “Shaping Light & Space”

2.Project 2: Mood Board – Experiential Exploration of Space & Materials

Reflection

In this module, I learn lot about the usage of materials, for which material needs to be used in which condition. Every single materials have their own properties and benefits, not all of the materials are suitable to use in every environments. Beside concept designing, we also need to know the relationship between space and material, what kind of material will give the special feeling for the space. To be an architect, I must able to conclude where I should use this type of material and where I should not. Architecture is not only design, but also must be applicable.
