PROJECT 1
Documentation and Analysis
Objective:
To introduce basic principles and procedures of construction process through real-life project, understanding the sequence and coordination of construction at site and expose to construction technology/methods responding to site context. We are also allowed to demonstrate our own understanding and knowledge of construction, material and technology as well as training us to produce a manual sketches, drawings and detailing relation to existing construction.
For this project, we cooperate in a group of 5-6, studying an existing construction site which visibly demonstrates most of the subject topics covered in the syllabus. We are recommended to select sites that are either medium rise or low rise buildings (commercial building, bungalow, terrace houses or maximum 4-storey buildings). We are required to identify different types of building elements and its construction process, details and materials through the site. We are also required to record the construction of different building elements and produce the document with the aid of several technical drawings.
Final Submission:
1. A3 bound report with visuals, sketches and manual drawings.
2. Softcopy of the report
The following submission is the part of the entire report, which the part I engaged:
- Introduction and Group member details
- Introduction to site
- Wall
- Summary
From this project, I had understood the principle and practice of construction technology and procedure. The importance of preliminary work and temporary facilities on the site highlights the detailing and precision of construction work, which every single procedure cannot be neglected. I also learnt most of the construction phrase from this project.
