PROJECT
Environmental Sustainable Design
This module introduces students to environmental issues and provides some in-depth understanding of the complexities and interactions that the design and construction professions have to deal with to contain some of the irreversible damage that human settlement causes to the environment. Modules also intend to instill basic ecological literacy and environmental concerns through projects that involves local environment and society.
The teaching objectives of the module are to:
1.To develop awareness of local and global environmental issues and concerns.
2.To explore to the local context of climate and building practices.
3.To explore the various as approaches to sustainable architecture.
My community My Commitment
Objective:
To increase awareness of current environmental issues locally and induce creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances.This allows us to explore the opportunity to work with the community and for the community and create the awareness of the importance of creating and environmentally sustainable product/design/services. Therefore, we are able to understand and explain the principles of sustainability from environmental and social perspective.
On this project, we are working as a group of 10-11. We are required to find an environmental community around us, which we had chosen Sivananda Home, an orphanage that is located in Batu Cave. We are required to analyse the issue on the site and giving solution to them. We were also visiting the site several times to gather more information to finalize the proposal. We started to work after the proposal was approved and then we started to finish the report, folio and documentation after the working site is done.
Final submission:
1. 2 A3 research poster of complete documentation of the entire project from proposal up to completion with LCA.
2. A multimedia presentation on the issue and process taken to resolve the issue (Youtube video)

Reflection
I had learnt to make a sustainable design for current community, the awareness of the importance of each design. Working as a group, we also learned to make cooperation between each member. We were having a good time to create the new concept of design and structure.
