Architecture Design Studio V
The teaching objectives of this module are:
1. To introduce aspects of the city and urbanity in relation to architectural design
2. To develop an awareness and application of legislative requirements and socio-behavioural patterns of urban environments and communities in architectural design
3. To explore key stages involved in architectural design development

PROJECT 2
Pavilion
Objective:
We are required to understand the concept of simple space planning requirement of a pavilion (with a maximum volume of 30 meter cube) in relations to the architectural languages from previous project. We are also required to conduct simple site analysis of the physical context both at macro and micro level of the site. We need to collect data and record on the following using physical maps/diagrams:
- Site plan (Site section, Site Boundaries, North Point, Contours)
- Existing Structure (Significant Architectural Language/Feature, Adjacent building/structure building to remain/demolish)
- Landscape (Natural features, Soil Condition, Surface Drainage, Existing vegetation)
- Climatic Studies (Sun path, wind direction, rain)
- Circulation pattern (pedestrian, vehicular)
- Views and Vistas (Panoramic /spot in, out, approaching)
- Activities (category -dry/wet, zoning, noise)
- Case Studies (Perdana Canopy & The Bamboo Playhouse )
- Site Model
For the site analysis, we are divided into 2 major groups, A and B. Our site is Botanical Garden Shah Alam, and we are grouped into Group A, that our site is around the tower Sapu Tangan in the botanical garden. We are also required to collect data about the category Activities (category -dry/wet, zoning, noise).
For this project, we work as a group of 2. With my partner Dinh, we are required to design a pavilion within the botanical garden, investigate the site content and analyse a suitable location with environmental influences. The knowledge that was learnt from previous project is also required to apply into this project.
Final Submission:
1. 5 A2 size presentation boards
2. Process models
3. Final model
From this project, I had learnt the ability to generate structure, form and space through architectural conceptualisation ( 2 keywords from previous project) with the emphasis on the user requirement, ergonomics and site responding to develop an architectural proposition. Through this project, I had fully understood the importance of using the art of crafting and making, which the models and drawings totally represent the concept and idea of the work, as a critical design tool as part of the design process.
