PROJECT 1
Skeletal Construction "Temporary Bus Shelter"
Objective:
To create an understanding of skeletal structure and its relevant structural components, to understand how a skeletal structure reacts under loading, demonstrating a convincing understanding of how skeletal construction works and to be able to manipulate skeletal construction to solve an oblique design problem.
For this project, we will required to produce a shelter based on the understanding of skeletal construction and its joints. It should be made out of specific recycle materials that reflects the materials used in actual construction. The shelter will be tested to determine its strength and we will be required to analyze the success or failure of the shelter. Analysis should indicate our understanding of skeletal construction, its joints, loads and forces experienced in a skeletal structure.
Final Submission:
1. Pile of reports
2. Structural model with detail connections/joints, in scale 1:5.
From this project, I had understood the various connections and joints in a building design. With the aid of this project, I also learned how the structure of certain building works, the load distribution between foundation and ground structures. The importance of superstructure had been shown in this project.
