PROJECT 2
Construction Detail & Specification
Objective:
To develop an understanding of the structural elements in construction and its application in the construction industry and apply suitable construction elements, material and detail/joint solutions suitable for a specific design. By demonstrating a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of build ability, awareness of how buildings are developed in response to practical considerations and certain levels of manual drawing and sketching skills, this allow our own understanding and knowledge of construction, material and technology to be more advanced. This project also encourages us to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing relating to construction.
For this project, this is an individual project that we integrated with Project 3 - the last project of Architecture Design Studio II - The Retreat House. We used the design of retreat house as the study structure of this project, detailing each of the construction technology and materials used in the design. We are also required to demonstrate and develop further on construction detail with technical drawings. The 3 details that must be included in the final submission: roof, superstructure and joints.

1. A2 size presentation board with detail drawings.

From this project, I had learnt to choose a suitable structural elements and apply on the design. I had also understood the construction details of each of the structure, representing by technical drawings. The suitable materials are selected by considering the climate and environmental factors is also one of the learning outcome from this project.
